Rules of the Brown house (they are official now that they are posted on the side of the fridge)
1. Be polite (lots of things fall under this category including fighting, arguing, throwing, hitting, etc)
2. Be safe (another very general but important rule which encompasses running, jumping off furniture, playing with non-toy items)
3. Use speaking words (this is to nip whining in the bud).
A lot of the why's can be answered with one of the above rules

But does it work? I find that when Sydney says "why" and even if I give her an answer, it's now met with another "why". I think she likes saying the word why LOL
ReplyDeleteJen - so far so good. The rules really really work with Jack too. I also notice if my house starts to spin out of control I remind everyone of the rules and things settle down. Today was the first day of NO meltdowns and NO yelling. It was heaven and the first day I had the rules posted. Visual aids are wonderful
